We received our June update on Maddox today! 🙂
He is “cute and fine” ~ I love always seeing that!
Our little guy now has 4 teeth (2 top, 2 bottom). He weighs exactly 20 lbs, is still walking furniture but won’t stand alone. Fine by me!
It’s also noted he has some atopic dermatitis. Poor guy!
No picture this time but it’s still exciting to get an update!!
Keep praying we get submitted for our EP soon. I almost can’t bear this wait!
This is pretty much what’s been going on on the adoption front:
Kidding. Kind of.
This week we received our biometric appointment from USCIS. What this means is we will travel to Charleston to the USCIS office and have our fingerprints taken on June 28th. This is apart of the I-600/I-600a process that approves us (from the US government )to bring Maddox home. We have been waiting close to a month to get these appointments so I was VERY relieved to see those letters from Homeland Security in my mailbox on Friday! It is the last bit of paperwork we need on the US side…and then we go back to the waiting phase.
We also received our original set of “legals” back from USCIS this week. We had asked for them back but there was really no guarantee and from what I hear it’s really just up to your officer as to whether or not they decide to send them back. These documents are the ones that have Maddox’s birth mother’s actual fingerprint on them (not a copy) so it was important to us that we have our original copies. They are something I’m sure he will want to have when he is older. So, so thankful to our sweet officer for returning them to us!
The next step is a BIG one! We are waiting to be submitted for his Emigration Permit (this a one way Visa out of Korea).I’m always getting asked when Maddox is coming home and I always give a skirted estimate. Truth be told until he is submitted for his Emigration Permit(EP) we really don’t know. What we do know is that once he is submitted it has typically been taking a month or so to be approved. Then there are a few more steps (that also take around a month) before we get our TRAVEL CALL! : ) I’ll talk about those in a later post. The latest update from our agency says that we should be submitted in 1-2 months. So, at the very earliest we are looking at late August and at the latest (if they run out of EP’s for the year. I talked about that here) we are looking at around February. So, this is where you come in. I’m asking if you would specifically pray (or continue to pray) that Maddox will be submitted for his EP very soon. I know all of you non AP friends probably still don’t have a good understanding of what I’m asking you to pray for and that is ok. It’s hard for me to understand the process at times! Thankfully, the Lord knows exactly what needs to happen here and we are confident in that! All we need you to do is pray! We thank you for each and every pray that is lifted on our behalf!
I’ve been practicing my Korean. It’s laughable but I’ve really been working hard! I’ve now mastered Hello (Ahn-Nyeong Hah-Seh-Yo) and Thank you (kamsahamnida). What? Those are hard! I’ll learn more…. 🙂
And lastly, but most importantly, today our sweet Maddox is 11 months old! WOW! When we first saw his picture he was just 7 months. Thinking of it that way it seems that time has flown by but I can assure you the wait has been tough…grueling at times. I could have never imagined how hard this process would be. Our agency is allowing us to send care packages again so we are putting together one to send to our boy for his 1st birthday next month. Bittersweet! But, we are excited to put it together and have some really great ideas. I’ll post pictures when it’s all ready to send.
I love this time of year! No hectic schedules to keep up with and summer is new enough that no one has time to get bored..yet! We get to lounge by the pool, sleep late (still waiting for that one) and just be free!
Here’s just a snippet of the fun we’ve been having so far:
I can’t wait to see how the rest of the Summer unfolds!
